A security filter, also known as a precision filter, is an essential component in industrial filtration systems. It is typically constructed with a high-quality stainless steel housing and equipped with various types of replaceable filter cartridges inside.

This type of filtration equipment is mainly installed after multimedia filtration systems and before membrane filtration equipment such as RO (Reverse Osmosis) or Ultrafiltration systems.

Its primary function is to remove fine particles and residual impurities that remain after multimedia filtration, such as fine quartz sand particles, activated carbon fines, and other suspended solids. By removing these contaminants, the security filter ensures high water quality and protects downstream membrane elements from fouling, blockage, or mechanical damage caused by larger particles.

Depending on the specific application and water quality requirements, different filtration ratings can be selected to ensure the required effluent quality and maintain the safe operation of membrane systems.

Security filters generally use stainless steel housings and are compatible with a wide range of tubular filter cartridges, including:

• Pleated filter cartridges
• High flow filter cartridges
• PP melt-blown filter cartridges
• String wound filter cartridges
• Titanium sintered filter cartridges
• Activated carbon filter cartridges

Different cartridge materials and structures can be selected according to the filtration medium, process requirements, and operating conditions to achieve optimal filtration performance.

• When installing precision filtration equipment in a filtration system, the principle of “coarse filtration followed by fine filtration” should always be followed.
• Main pipeline filters should be installed in the primary processing line. Upstream equipment may include after-coolers, oil-water separators, or storage tanks.
• Branch pipeline filters should be installed as close as possible to the point of use to reduce pressure loss.
• High-efficiency filters should be preceded by a pre-filter with a filtration rating greater than 5 μm, which helps improve filtration efficiency and extend the service life of the cartridge.

Filtration systems must follow the coarse-to-fine filtration sequence, and the installation order should not be reversed.

During operation, the flow rate, pressure, and temperature of the fluid or compressed air must not exceed the design specifications of the filter system.

Ensure the correct inlet and outlet orientation when installing the filter housing.

The filter housing should be installed vertically and positioned at a suitable height above the ground to facilitate cartridge replacement and maintenance.

The filter cartridge should be replaced under the following conditions:

• Filtration performance significantly decreases
• Differential pressure exceeds 0.07 MPa
• Exhaust temperature exceeds 66°C

For filters without an automatic drain device, the drain valve should be opened periodically to remove accumulated water or contaminants from the housing.

• Strong dirt holding capacity
• Chemically resistant materials, suitable for acidic or alkaline environments
